Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United American. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the brokerage to NRT for $66 millions. Then, shortly after she left the company. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank to date. Corcoran has signed 53 deals until February, 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was the second of 10 kids born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence, her mother, was an exemplary homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved between jobs throughout Corcoran's youth. Sometimes, the family relied on deliveries of free food from a local grocery store. Corcoran recalls that her father was a drunkard who sometimes treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially when having consumed alcohol. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. Corcoran later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at an Catholic primary school. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a degree in English after not completing several classes in her first year of high school.
